  69. |       it will be for your own personal use (and is not to be               |
  70. |       distributed to others).  Your registration will also entitle you     |
  71. |       to one additional update when a new version comes out. (A            |

  78. DEFINITION OF SHAREWARE

  80. Shareware distribution gives users a chance to try software
  81. before buying it. If you try a Shareware program and continue
  82. using it, you are expected to register. Individual programs
  83. differ on details -- some request registration while others
  84. require it, some specify a maximum trial period. With
  85. registration, you get anything from the simple right to continue
  86. using the software to an updated program with printed manual.

  89. and the copyright holder retains all rights, with a few specific
  90. exceptions as stated below. Shareware authors are accomplished
  91. programmers, just like commercial authors, and the programs are
  92. of comparable quality. (In both cases, there are good programs
  93. and bad ones!) The main difference is in the method of
  94. distribution. The author specifically grants the right to copy
  95. and distribute the software, either to all and sundry or to a
  96. specific group. For example, some authors require written
  97. permission before a commercial disk vendor may copy their
  98. Shareware.

  100. Shareware is a distribution method, not a type of software. You
  101. should find software that suits your needs and pocketbook,
  102. whether it's commercial or Shareware. The Shareware system makes
  103. fitting your needs easier, because you can try before you buy.

  105. has the ultimate money-back guarantee -- if you don't use the
  106. product, you don't pay for it.

  111. "PixFolio is supplied as is.  The author disclaims all
  112. warranties, expressed or implied, including, without limitation,
  113. the warranties of merchantability and of fitness for any purpose.
  114. The author assumes no liability for damages, direct or conse-
  115. quential, which may result from the use of PixFolio."

  117. PixFolio is a "shareware program" and is provided at no charge
  118. to the user for evaluation.  Feel free to share it with your
  119. friends, but please do not give it away altered or as part of
  120. another system.  The essence of "user-supported" software is to
  121. provide personal computer users with quality software without
  122. high prices, and yet to provide incentive for programmers to
  123.

  125. continue to develop new products.  If you find this program
  126. useful and find that you are using PixFolio and continue to use
  127. PixFolio after a reasonable trial period, you must make a reg-
  128. istration payment of $35.00 to Allen C. Kempe (dba ACK Software).
  129. The $35.00 registration fee will license one copy for use on any
  130. one computer at any one time.  You must treat this software just
  131. like a book.  An example is that this software may be used by any
  132. number of people and may be freely moved from one computer
  133. location to another, so long as there is no possibility of it
  134. being used at one location while it's being used at another.
  135. Just as a book cannot be read by two different persons at the
  136. same time.

  138. Commercial users of PixFolio must register and pay for their
  139. copies of PixFolio within 30 days of first use or their license
  140. is withdrawn.  Site-License arrangements may be made by con-
  141. tacting Allen C. Kempe (dba ACK Software).

  143. Anyone distributing PixFolio for any kind of renumeration must
  144. first contact Allen C. Kempe (dba ACK Software) at the address above
  145. for authorization. This authorization will be automatically granted
  146. to distributors recognized by the (ASP) as adhering to its guidelines
  147. for shareware distributors, and such distributors may begin offering
  148. PixFolio immediately (However Allen C. Kempe (dba ACK Software) must
  149. still be advised so that the distributor can be kept up-to-date with
  150. the latest version of PixFolio.).

  152. You are encouraged to pass a copy of PixFolio along to your
  153. friends for evaluation.  Please encourage them to register their
  154. copy if they find that they can use it.  All registered users
  155. will receive a copy of the latest version of the PixFolio
